“For an island to cease being lonely, it is not enough for it to be inhabited.”
The evening begins with a reading from Gilles Deleuze’s “The Desert Island: Texts and Conversations 1953–1974”. The shift in perspective suggested here – from geography to philosophy – conceives of the desert island as the crucial point from which creation becomes possible in the first place. This also opens up a new perspective on the exhibition. The focus of the evening is on conversation.
